US-style Wooden Skids

US-style Wooden Skids
Details:
US-style Wooden Skids are open-base wooden transport platforms made for heavy machinery, stamping dies, industrial components, pipes, profiles, and other loads that need direct support along runners rather than a conventional full bottom deck. They are used for equipment transport where the load base may also need to be bolted or blocked to the skid.

Core Advantages

Direct-Bolting Skid Structure

Selected skid configurations omit bottom deck boards and leave the runner structure accessible for direct equipment fixing. For machines or dies that must be restrained at defined mounting points during truck or sea transport, bolts and blocking can be aligned with the skid instead of relying only on straps around the cargo.

Load Designs Above 20 Tons

The current product specification allows load designs above 20 tons when the runner and bearing layout are engineered around the equipment base. For stamping molds, large fabricated assemblies, and dense machinery with concentrated contact points, the skid can be built around the actual support zones rather than a general carton-load pattern.

CNC-Cut Mounting Interfaces

Bolt holes, runner cuts, and joining features can be CNC machined from the approved drawing. When equipment feet or anchor positions have limited tolerance, controlled machining keeps the fixing points aligned with the machinery base and reduces adjustment during packing.

Customization

Custom US-style Wooden Skids

Skid design is developed from equipment drawings, base dimensions, center of gravity, lift points, and transport restraints. Runner positions and bearing members are laid out to keep support directly under the machine frame and to leave room for forks, lifting, or tie-down hardware.

Customizable Items

• Overall footprint

• Runner position and section

• Bolt-hole pattern

• Bearing pad location

• Cross-member spacing

• Tie-down points

• Surface planing and sanding

Quality Control

Technical drawings are reviewed before cutting so runner positions, bolt-hole coordinates, and bearing points match the equipment base. Timber is screened for splits, decay, and weak sections before it is assigned to a load-bearing member.

Cut parts are checked for length, hole location, joint fit, and surface condition before assembly. Fasteners and reinforcement are inspected at each load path so the skid does not leave unsupported gaps beneath concentrated equipment feet.

Final inspection verifies overall flatness, fixing-point alignment, fork or lifting clearance, and exposed edges. Third-party inspection can be arranged before loading for large machinery projects.
